Job Description
The Salvation Army Western Territory is seeking a Director of Gift Planning in the Seattle, WA area for the world’s largest charitable organization that is “doing the most good.” We are committed to providing programs for families and children through shelter, after school programs, ending the cycle of poverty, and programs that combat human trafficking. The Gift Planning Director leads, develops, implements and coordinates all phases of the Gift Planning Program within the Division for maximum success with planned gifts generation and gift closures. The position is responsible for: cultivating, stewarding and soliciting planned gift donors and prospects; engaging them in philanthropic planning conversations that effectively consider their charitable goals, family needs, assets, tax considerations, and optimal planned gift instruments; and encouraging and assisting them with making planned and complex outright gifts. The incumbent will use their specialized gift planning knowledge to evaluate and manage donor’s expectations, goals and financial situations to recommend optimal gifting options. 
This position will also: 
•Maintain and build relationships with professional such as CPA” s, Attorneys, and CFP’s 
•Collaborate with Officers and development staff to provide donors with exceptional service 
•Develop and execute production of gift activity; meeting set goals and expectations 
•Submit various necessary reports 
•Keep current on all appropriate tax laws, tools and agreements relating to gift planning 
•Promote, encourage and engage in major gifts and donor events We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of success and the following skills and experience: 
•Three to five years’ experience achieving results in the fundraising field; gift planning, major gifts, development, capital campaigns or related 
•Demonstrated ability and experience building strong trusting relationships with clients 
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 
•Ability to acquire a working knowledge of a large body of new, technical information Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public presentations 
•Demonstrated strong planning, prospecting, and networking skills 
• Excellent leadership ability
