Planned Giving Is a Team Sport - Working with advisors to help donors realize their philanthropic goals 

Andrea King of Swedish Medical Center Foundation, Laura Zeman of Zeman Law Group, and Susan Talton of Laird Norton Wealth Management will share their insights into how they work with donors and their other advisors to help them meet their philanthropic goals in the most efficient manner.

Panelist Bios:

Andrea King, VP of Philanthropic Services, Swedish Medical Center Foundation

Andrea King is the VP of Philanthropic Services at the Swedish Medical Center Foundation. She joined Swedish in 2013 and previously worked in planned giving at Seattle University for 8 years. She has spent most of her career in higher education and healthcare development. At Swedish, Andrea enjoys working with a broad range of benefactors to help them achieve their long-term philanthropic goals. Andrea received her undergraduate degree in history at Cornell University, her master’s degree in nonprofit administration from Golden Gate University, and a graduate certificate in executive leadership from Seattle University. She is a past president of the WPGC board and serves as president of the board of directors for TINFA, a nonprofit organization providing technology access and teacher training to underserved schools in Guatemala and Mexico.

Susan Talton, Client Manager, Laird Norton Wealth Management

Susan Talton joined Laird Norton Wealth Management in 2008 and serves as a client advisor. With more than 25 years of wealth management experience, Susan truly enjoys nurturing close relationships with her clients to help them through significant life transitions. As a Certified Financial Planner™ Professional, Susan firmly believes that thorough and integrated financial planning is the key to achieving personal goals. Although Susan addresses a range of financial issues, she often helps her clients successfully transition their lives through a separation, divorce or the death of a spouse. Another special interest for Susan is retirement planning. She was instrumental in forming Laird Norton Wealth Management’s Retirement Life Planning Group. Prior to joining LNWM, Susan worked as a Financial Consultant at Smith Barney. While there, she advised clients on a variety of financial topics, including women in transition, retirement planning, elder planning, and philanthropic initiatives. Widely recognized for her financial acumen, Susan is a board member at the Washington Planned Giving Council and has been featured in national publications. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.

Laura Zeman, Principal, Zeman Law Group

Laura is the principal of Zeman Law Group PLLC. She practices in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, probate, charitable planning and business planning. She has lectured on related topics before the Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, and other professional groups. Prior to opening Zeman Law Group PLLC, Laura practiced law for seven years at a large Seattle law firm. In addition to her native English, Laura speaks conversational French.

*If you're driving to Women's University Club, please give yourself a few extra minutes. The small parking garage on-site is for Club members only.  Please take advantage of a number of nearby parking garages.  One suggestion is the WAC parking garage. Members who register a non-member guest for a lunch meeting can receive a $10 discount code for a future lunch. To receive the discount, the non-member guest must be registered for a luncheon with a meal. You will be contacted following the event with details.    

WPGC Late Registration Policy - Late registrants or walk-in participants are not guaranteed meal requests. You will only be charged for meals if you are served.  To ensure your dietary needs are met, please register for luncheons in advance - registration closes at noon on the Thursday prior to our Monday luncheons.
