Join us for our 2019 Annual Meeting and December Luncheon Program, which will feature past award recipients of the Frank Minton Professional Achievement Award. These individuals have been honored in recognition of their outstanding career of service, dedication and leadership in Charitable Gift Planning. Moderated by Andrea King, WPGC past president and Vice President, Philanthropic Services of the Swedish Medical Center Foundation, you will hear from leaders in the field during a lively panel discussion. Andrea joined Swedish Medical Center Foundation in 2013 to lead the planned giving program. She now serves as VP of Philanthropic Services, leading operations, annual giving, planned giving, prospect management and finance programs.

 

Andrea has spent much of her career fundraising for higher education, including eight years at Seattle University, and health care. She is past president of the Washington Planned Giving Council and a past member of the TINFA (Technology and Information For All) board, a non-profit that provides technology access and teacher training to under-served schools in Guatemala and Mexico. She currently serves on the Vestry of Epiphany Parish in Seattle.

Frank Minton

Frank founded Planned Giving Services, a national consulting firm that was acquired by PG Calc in 2005. Before entering consulting in 1991, he spent over ten years with the University of Washington, where he served as Director of Planned Giving and Executive Director of Development. He has served both as conference chair and board chair of the National Committee on Planned Giving (now the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners), received its distinguished service award and was inducted into its Planned Giving Hall of Fame. He is a recognized expert on gift annuities and has served as chair of the American Council on Gift Annuities from which he also received a distinguished service award. He is the principal author of Charitable Gift Annuities: the Complete Resource Manual, the co-author of Planned Giving for Canadians, and has made many presentations and published numerous articles on gift planning. A number of his presentations have been to Canadian audiences, and his writing and consultation also deal with cross-border charitable gifts. He is a member of the Seattle Estate Planning Council, and the Washington Planned Giving Council.

Bill Zook

Bill is the principal of Evergreen Planned Giving, LLC, which was formed in 2016. Now in his third decade as a planned giving consultant, he has served hundreds of clients throughout the U.S. Bill worked initially with Planned Giving Services, Inc. and its founder, Frank Minton, beginning in 1996 and then with planned giving software and services company PG Calc Incorporated from 2005 to 2015.

 

A former president of the Washington Planned Giving Council, Bill is also a member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (as well as its Leadership Institute), the Seattle Estate Planning Council, the East King County Estate Planning Council, and the Washington State Bar Association. Prior to becoming a consultant, Bill practiced estate planning law and spent the better part of a decade in the field of alternative dispute resolution entailing arbitration, mediation, and conciliation of customer-business disputes; arbitration of labor-management disputes; and teaching a community college course for paralegals. He received his B.A. in religious studies from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law.

 

Bill’s current community involvement focuses on alleviating homelessness.

“Leaving a Legacy: A New Look at Today’s Planned Giving Donors” was published by the Giving USA Foundation last week.

Join Seattle University’s Nonprofit Leadership program and AFP Advancement Northwest for a research presentation and panel discussion on Giving USA Foundation’s newest Special Report, “Leaving a Legacy: A New Look at Today’s Planned Giving Donors.” The study, led by Elizabeth Dale, PhD, Assistant Professor at Seattle University, is a landmark effort in understanding today’s planned giving donors, and provides valuable insight into a key aspect of philanthropy that has not yet been extensively researched. Following an overview of the research findings a panel of planned giving practitioners will join Dr. Dale to discuss the report and how it relates to their organization’s work with donors.

Members who register a non-member guest for a lunch meeting can receive a $10 discount code for a future lunch. To receive the discount, the non-member guest must be registered for a luncheon with a meal. You will be contacted following the event with details.    

WPGC Late Registration Policy - Late registrants or walk-in participants are not guaranteed meal requests. You will only be charged for meals if you are served.  To ensure your dietary needs are met, please register for luncheons in advance - registration closes at noon on the Thursday prior to our Monday luncheons.
