New Developments with the Lynn Schrader Memorial Scholarship

The Washington Planned Giving Council announces the transition of the Lynn Schrader Scholarship to the Washington Planned Giving Council Diversity Scholarship. 

We aim to encourage diversity, equity and inclusion in the Washington Planned Giving Council membership. In partnership with Advancement Northwest we will offer benefits for a one-year scholarship through the Advancement Northwest Scholarship Program.

Lynn Schrader Memorial Scholarship

The Lynn Schrader Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to Lynn Schrader, one of our profession's guiding lights, a champion for professionalism with the highest level of ethics, and deeply admired colleague.

Scholarships will include membership in the Washington Planned Giving Council for one year, attendance at the Planned Giving Day Conference, and a planned giving mentor.

Scholarship Eligibility

Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

• Applicants must be a current staff member of a nonprofit organization or an allied professional (attorney, financial planner, accountant, trust officer) to apply.

• Only one individual per organization may receive a scholarship.

• Applicants must be at their organization for at least one year.

• Applicant's organization must have a relatively small operating budget.

• Applicants must commit to putting into practice what they learn.

• Applicants must commit to attending at least four WPGC lunch meetings and the Planned Giving Day Conference in Seattle.

Meet the 2018 Scholarship Award Recipients 

Jennifer Dumlao is the Development Director at the Environmental Science Center in Burien, where she has worked for 9 years as a naturalist and fundraiser.

Kelly Sanderbeck is the Donor Development Manager at Washington’s National Park Fund, where she has worked for a year and a half. Previously she was at PCC Farmland Trust.

Lila Trowbridge is a Major Gifts Officer at Forterra, where she’s been for two years.
